Job Description:
Employment Counselor-Returning Citizens (Career Development Counselor); MCCC/MTA Unit Professional Position; 37.5 hours per week; Pay grade 4; Grant funded. This position is located at the MassHire Merrimack Valley Career Center in Lawrence with services also provided on-site at correctional facilities located in Essex County.
Position Summary:
The Employment Counselor provides services to individuals who have experienced incarceration with the purpose of helping them to find employment that provides sufficient wages, benefits, and potential for advancement to decrease recidivism and support functioning as a contributing citizen. While emphasis is on working with participants while they are incarcerated, services are also provided to individuals who have been released from a correctional facility and are unemployed.
