DUA did not direct Bank of America to freeze their debit card and their card is not frozen and funds are available. Bank of America has also confirmed that as a result of their error, there has been no data breach.
Last night Bank of America mistakenly sent an email to 294,000 PUA and Regular UI claimants notifying them that their debit card has been frozen at the direction of the Massachusetts Department of Unemployment Assistance (DUA) and directing claimants to contact DUA to verify their eligibility.
Bank of America sent a subsequent email early this morning notifying claimants that the email was sent in error and to disregard the notice.
